Thank you for your comment FredWhat I am sianyg in my post is that I totally understand the word portrait is a common term used in our industry to define a product. I have no issues with the word portrait being used. Why should I have issues with this? What I resent however, is the fact many photographers in Ottawa are using ottawa portrait , the two words together in quotes in their keywords in order to generate traffic to their website. If they’re promoting a post on a blog about family portraits, why give the post the title Ottawa Portrait ? I wouldn’t have any issues with Family portraits Ottawa or Ottawa family portraits and so on.. To me it is evident when they’re using my company and domain name as quotes in the keywords or giving a blog’s post this title that they’re targeting my domain and company name to benefit from search engine traffic. It’s a very unfair and fraudulent practice. I am not sianyg they shouldn’t be using the word portrait. I am however, the rightful owner of ottawaportrait.com and Ottawa Portrait , why should any other photographer use it to their advantage? It would be like if I wrote Frederic Sune or fredericsune.com in the keywords on my website or blog. I think you would resent this.
